CorActive
Introduces High Flatness Erbium Doped Fibers
Press
release :
Quebec
City, Quebec - September 22, 2003 - CorActive,
an independent manufacturer of advanced specialty optical
fiber products, is pleased to introduce a new family of cost
effective High Flatness Erbium Doped Fibers at the European
Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) in Rimini, Italy.
CorActive's
family of High Flatness Erbium Doped Fibers (HF-EDF) with
patented Confinement Technology provide a clear advantage
in flatness over standard Erbium Doped Fibers. CorActive's
HF-EDF flatness advantage directly translates into pump power
savings (up to 30% savings of pump power). An optical amplifier
using CorActive's
HF-EDF requires lower pump power to produce the same output
power. EDFAs empowered with CorActive's
HF-EDF also benefit from reduced Gain Flattening Filter (GFF)
costs and a superior noise figure.
CorActive's
High Flatness Erbium Doped Fibers are offered with a peak
absorption @ 1530nm of 4±1, 6±2, 12±2dB/m.
"These new fibers offer significant advantages to EDFA customers
but most importantly they make them save money on other components
such as amplifier laser pumps and Gain Flattening Filter (GFF),
hence our Erbium Doped Fiber pays for itself" says Claude
Adrien Noel, president & CEO, CorActive.
